Raise your profile to be the best you

How do you expect other people to know your greatness if you do not raise your profile? If you just keep it to yourself, you limit the opportunities for you and others. For you – to do more of what excites you and what you are truly passionate about, for others – to get inspired by your passion and benefit from you sharing your knowledge and expertise.

If you are either an entrepreneur, a business leader or a professional, raising your profile is a must now. It’s not so much for self promotion purposes, but rather for sharing your vision, purpose, knowledge and expertise, so that people get to know what you are truly great at and can come to you for your core expertise and passion to share it.

It is more for taking charge of and creating opportunities in your life to do more of what you are excited about and deliver value for others in a way that you love doing it.

If you do have clarity, but are on the edge of – not being sure why you need to raise your profile, here is why:

  • For entrepreneurs: you get more clients that are your ideal clients, that know, like, and trust you are the one they need and will find you themselves. You can focus on doing the job that you love, not on running after clients and selling your services to them.
  • For business leaders: you attract your ideal employees as people work for people they resonate with. It’s easier for you to work on business development as you are known in the industry for what and how you do things, and you can better impact and influence decision making for the business and your business stakeholders.
  • For professionals: you can stop doing the boring job and receive more opportunities to do the job that you are excited and passionate about, that has more meaning. We all live just once. If you are well paid now, but not really enjoying what you do, I’ll tell you this – you can get the same or better paid job that you truly enjoy. Just raise your profile in the right way to the right audience.

Here are my top tips for raising your profile:

1. Develop absolute clarity on your personal brand – your talents that you want to apply, your passion, values, your WOW effect, purpose, mission and vision for your life and then compile it into a short and snappy elevator pitch – into a short but impactful introduction, that conveys the message – of who you are, what you do and whom and how you can help. There is a best in you, you just need to be clear yourself – on what it is and bring it up. As an example, I can do many things in business, like I can recruit the best talent from the market, I can implement performance management programs etc, but what I truly and absolutely like best is – helping you to be the best version of yourself, be congruent and enjoy being truthful to yourself and others, raise your profile in accordance to that and enjoy what you do. I am great at inspiring you to think about it, empowering you to take action, equipping you with tools and strategies to do it and challenging you to, just do it!

2. For that, you need to define clearly who is your audience – your customer, employer, stakeholders – for whom exactly you are delivering value and what transformation you help them with. I advise you to be very specific about – who is it that you serve, help, deliver value, as then you can communicate and raise your profile where and in the way that they will see, notice and appreciate. As an example, my audience is people like you – entrepreneurs, business leaders and professionals and corporates who care about their people and want to do something disruptive, innovative and truly empowering for their people.

3. Social media content strategy – you can raise your profile either in 1-to-1 communications, networking – by connecting to 5-10 people per event, or – you can massively raise your profile through  thoughtful and purposeful social media content strategy. Your daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly communications, will ensure that your ideal audience will get to better know what you are all about, and how you can serve them and deliver value.  Also, what your values and work ethics are and what results you can deliver. As an example: I am  crystal clear on my top 3 messages for social media communication and I have a clearly defined social media content plan that is congruent with what I am aiming to achieve. You might have regularly seen my posts, videos, blogs and articles to inspire, and empower you to take action.

What’s the worst that can happen? Just do it!

What’s stopping you from doing what you aspire to, but have not done yet? What are the benefits and added value if you do it? And – what’s the worst that can happen? Just do it!

This week I did my first FB live video on dealing with your fears and taking action towards your aspirations.

I’ve been aiming to do FB live videos for quite some time, as I know that by doing FB live videos I can reach out and share my insights and advice to more people at the same time – in comparison to the 121 coaching job and workshops in companies that I am doing. I can help many more ambitious and dedicated professionals and entrepreneurs build their personal brand to succeed in their career and business, elegantly and confidently.

But there was one thing stopping me – fear! Fear from doing a live video in front of a camera.  It is weird if you think about it – I love speaking on stage and doing presentations to hundreds of people in the audience, I love facilitating workshops on personal brand development and from the feedback I receive – I’m good at it!

But when it comes to a camera – I kept procrastinating.

And then I applied to myself the method I teach others – think about the benefits of doing it and – assess what’s the worst that can happen.

In my case: Benefits – being able to reach out and share my message to more people.

What’s the worst that can happen? – not being perfect or as good as I would like to come across in the video. So what? What’s the worst that can happen by that? Some people might think – its not as excellent as she always does, well – she is not perfect, she is human! So – what’s the  worst  that can happen? Some people might leave supportive comments, some – might get inspired seeing that I’m learning too!

And you keep asking yourself this question until you realize – I need to just get on with it and do it!

Last week at the Content creation workshop, one of my favourite content experts advised those who are reluctant to do a FB live video because of their perfectionism: to look at Gary Vaynerchuk’s first videos, they are not so great, but people don’t care. Because his current videos are.

I googled Gary Vaynerchuk first videos, and they are not so great. But the recent ones are. Everyone starts somewhere, right?

Now – here’s a call to action for you:

Think about one thing that you have been aspiring to do but for some reason have not done yet. What’s stopping you? What are the benefits of doing it? And what’s the worst that can happen?

Just go and do it, if you are truly passionate about the added value and benefits.

3-Step Success Mindset Technique For Your Dream Career Destination

There are two types of people on the journey of following their dreams: people who talk about following their dream and people who take action towards it. Be the one that takes action!

Here is a good method to follow the 3-Step Success Mindset technique to reach your dream career or business destination:

Step 1. – Pay attention

Pay attention to what you truly want to achieve. And why you are doing this. What is your WHY to follow your dream. What is your vision and mission along the way. Is your dream, for  example, to develop an organic cosmetics business with a vision to inspire people to live more healthy lives and get educated on  how much better organic cosmetics are versus chemicals that creates a number of dangerous illnesses? Or is your dream to develop your own pillow production company with a vision to ensure everyone who suffers from backpain gets the right pillow that allows them to sleep well, wake up well rested to have a fulfilling day? Or is your dream to get promoted to Customer Service Manager to ensure customers get the highest level of service to build trust and loyalty? If your vision is not big enough, you will not be able to get to Step 2 – get excited.

Step 2. – Get excited

Get really excited about your dream and how following your dream inspires you and people around you. Feel the excitement and energy shining out of you. Feel the outcomes that you will have by following your dream. How much more energized, empowered, and inspired  are you when you do it. See it, smell it, feel it – how absolutely fantastic it is when you follow your dream.

Step 3. – Never quit

If you are on the path to follow your dream, if you have made that decision and committed to it – never, ever quit. There will be walls of obstacles in  your way, that is for sure. But remember why these walls of obstacles are there – for you to figure out how to overcome them and learn new ways of doing things, communicating with people, getting things done, achieving your dreams. You do not want to quit just 5 meters before reaching the finish line, do you? Keep running. Keep being dedicated. Keep your commitment. Never quit.

Have you ever thought of following your dreams? Business? Career? Personal?

You probably  have thought about following your dreams, haven’t you? Be it your dream to build your own business, your career ambition or any other aspiration. But there is something stopping you, isn’t there? Most people when they get to 35 years of age have lost their dreams, as they try to be practical. And they tend to kill other people dreams too.

Dream killers or inspirers?

Do you surround yourself with people who are dream killers or inspirers? Dream killers do it for 2 reasons – either to protect you, or because they envy you for your dreams. Be aware of the dream killers in your life and the kind of people you surround yourself with. Choose people carefully to share the inspiration with, instead of killing the dreams. Be it your dreams to build your own business, your career ambition or any other aspiration.

Choose your door and the key

There will always be obstacles in your way of fighting for your dreams or aspirations. They are there for a reason – for you to figure out how to overcome them. If you encounter  a high wall and you need to overcome it, how will  you do that? Do you say – there is a wall in  my way, I don’t know what to do. Or would you try to figure out how to climb the wall?

Recently, I heard someone  say:” I don’t see the walls, I only see the doors. And if they are closed, I will make a  key. And if the key does not fit, I will make another one or ask someone for help to make the right  key.” This is what I call, the success mindset. The Success Planner book is one of the keys.

There are always ways how to overcome obstacles on the way to following your dreams.

Obtain clarity

But first you need to get crystal clear clarity that the dreams you want to follow are your dreams. Make sure these are your career or business aspirations. Not your parents, not your spouses or someone else’s dreams, but yours.  And then – choose the approach that works for you to succeed. You can go and learn a new skill that will help you  follow your dream. You can get a coach that will help to further have clarity and commit to actions to build a bridge  that will get from today to your dreams. If  man  can  land on the moon, there is not much you can not do once you have made your mind up and moved from talking about it to actually doing it. Taking action is a strong step towards your success.

So many people just talk and do not take action. Be the one who takes action. Sometimes to win, you only need to take action, because others don’t. And  you know – what?: There are no traffic jams along the extra mile 😉
